Teeth Whitening
A smile is generally the first thing you notice about someone, so why not make it your best asset. At UC Dental, take-home whitening kits are available. At your first appointment, a qualified dentist can take impressions of your teeth that will be used to make your custom mouth trays. The special whitening gel is inserted in the trays and is worn for 30 minutes per day, or overnight, for approximately 2 weeks. We recommend that you have your teeth checked and cleaned prior to starting your teeth whitening treatment to ensure there are no cavities present for best results. Whitening whilst you have an existing cavity can cause discomfort. Great results occur for the majority of people, but it is important to consider any existing dental work you currently have, as fillings and crowns will not change colour.
Crowns
Dental crowns are generally used to restore broken or badly damaged teeth. Crowns are also recommended to strengthen cracked or root-filled teeth. Essentially, a crown is like a cap that fits over the top of your tooth. Crowns can be made of Ceramic, Zirconia (tooth coloured metal) or Gold. Crowns can be matched to your adjacent teeth and resemble a natural tooth.
Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are a very thin facing that is sealed permanently to the front of your teeth to enhance their aesthetic appeal. Veneers are becoming an increasingly popular option for patients whose teeth are chipped, small, discoloured or have gaps between them.
Bridges
A bridge aims to restore your smile, improve function and maintain the shape of your face by placing a crown on each adjacent tooth to the gap, with a bonded tooth in the middle. Usually made in a porcelain material, a dental bridge can be blended in with your smile to give the appearance of natural teeth.
